We are Climate Neutral Certified (Again)

The health and sustainability of our planet has been our priority since day one.

The textile industry is responsible for 10% of all global carbon emissions. To put into perspective, that is more than all international flights and maritime shipping combined.

We believe that all businesses have a great responsibility and should take ownership for their impact on the planet. Through the great work of our team, we re-certified Climate Neutral for the second year in a row by offsetting our full 2022 greenhouse gas emissions.

Reducing our footprint.

On our continued journey to climate neutrality, we measured our 2022 carbon footprint by partnering with Climate Neutral to log and convert our data into emissions — from the start of our supply chain, to packaging products, and yes, even counting every towel that left our warehouse and ended up in your hands.

We are paving a path toward a more sustainable future.

We reduced our emissions to 776 metric tons of CO₂ emissions.

Reaching Climate Neutrality means we’re removing greenhouse gases from the atmosphere at the same rate that we’re emitting them. We offset 100% of our emissions with the help of our partner organization BEF to support removing emissions from the environment, as well as avoiding emissions from energy and industry.

Envira Amazonia

Project: Tropical Forest Conservation

The Envira Amazonia Project is a REDD+ project in the State of Acre, Brazil. It aims to protect up to 200,000 hectares of tropical rainforest, preserving rich biodiversity, providing direct benefits to local communities, and mitigating the release of ~12.6 million metric tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions over the first 10 years of the project.

Gansu Wind Project, China

Project: Renewable Energy, Wind Farm

As the number one emitter of greenhouse gases on the planet, China’s vital wind projects have a high impact on improving greenhouse gas emissions by creating clean energy supply for communities and improving air and water quality.

Promise the Pod

Project: Save the Orcas

The Southern Resident orcas living along the West Coast are down to just 74 individuals. Restoring streams that feed into the Pacific, planting trees that benefit regional habitat, and engaging the next generation of orca caretakers will help these pods have the food and clean water they need to thrive.

West Coast Tree Planting

Project: Forest Management

The BEF works with numerous tree planting partners up and down the West Coast of the United States planting trees for habitat restoration and recovery by providing funding to these partners.

Tribal Renewable Energy Fund

Project: Renewable Energy, Tribal

Tribal renewable energy programs provide much needed energy independence, resilience, and reduced energy costs to tribal nations while also supporting hands-on workforce development and local STEM education.

But being neutral isn't enough.

Offsetting is a temporary fix, which is why we’re committed to further action toward positive environmental change. With the Nomadix Roadmap to Sustainability and a bold list of commitments, we plan to cut our emissions in half by 2030. Next steps? Holding ourselves accountable for our impact.

Roadmap to Sustainability

Earth-first work in progress

1

Reduce air freight shipping emissions by 50% in the next two years.

We reached our goal in the first year. We will continue our internal and external education about emissions caused by air freight vs. ground or sea freight to further reduce our impact on the planet.

2

Transition to at least 50% renewable energy at our HQ office and warehouse.

We reached our goal within a few months, unfortunately our provider discontinued their solar program so we are looking for an alternative and will switch to 100% renewable energy once we find one.

3

Remove 100% of virgin plastic from our production in the next year.

We've switched our paper goods to FSC-certified recycled but are on the hunt for a few final alternatives to the 100% virgin plastic items in our individual packaging, like the small hanging hooks.

4

Transition from 2-day air to ground shipping across all D2C shipments.

We are committed to further decrease our emissions from air shipping by switching our default shipping method to ground shipping on all direct to consumer orders.

5

Switch 3PL warehouse equipment from LPG to electric.

We aim to eliminate our Liquefied Petroleum Gas emissions by switching forklifts and other warehouse equipment used for maneuvering Nomadix product to electric.

6

Expand end-of-life solution for our products.

We currently donate defective and returned products to animal shelters but we are actively working on a more robust program to reduce textile waste and achieve circularity.
